Hi all,
Last night I saw my patio lights turning on and off randomly and heard the relay for the porch lights clicking about the same time. Immediatlely I though my HA was hacked, but when I logged in I quickly figured out the commands did not come from HA. But I did notice that two of my sensors (garage tilt and 4:1 motion) were not showing up.
Basically any motion or alert event from the motion sensor turned the other Z wave switches on, independent of HA. I could see the events in the log and the devices. Like previous posts, it looks like somehow the motion sensor associated with group 255 and sent all-on/all-off commands to the network on its own. Hadn’t done anything like that ever.
We had an extended power outage here a couple days ago, enough that the UPS drained. It seemed like HA came back fine, but I did not check everything (was turning lights on and off with the sun as it should be so I assumed everything was working). Between that and nodes missing and the weird behavior I can’t see this as a coincidence.
To complicate matters, I accidentally deleted Node 1 (the Aeotec stick) when I thought I was deleting the motion sensor. So I decided to build a new network.
First, big thanks to previous discussions on this topic. Really helped me narrow down probable causes.
Second, after I rebuild my network tonight (only 6 devices, so not bad), how do I prevent this in the future? Is a simple Linux shutdown on power loss not enough? Do I need to manually back up Zwave xml files (I thought that was automatic)?
Any other ideas?
Thanks all,
AC
