No experience with that specific device, so can’t comment on the z-wave compatibility other than say it should work.
Anecdotally, I can say I had persistent issues with the Nortek stick for zigbee.
All problems went away after changing to the Sonoff dongle. That was under ZHA using a backup/restore of the net from the Nortek stick to Sonoff stick, so all zigbee network parameters(channel, etc) were the same. I didn’t have to re-pair any devices.
Lots of Aqara was/is in the mix. I had issues with Aqara devices becoming unavailable and had to re-pair the devices to get them back. No issues, dropped devices, or re-pairing since I made the change. 16 Aqara door sensors are all solid performers for me.
All sorts of potential environmental issues with zigbee. Swapping dongles may not help you at all, but the price difference of a single sensor would pay for the Sonoff dongle.
May be worth testing the Sonoff or another 2652 based stick.
A qualifier to that is that with the Nortek stick, unless you’ve done the invasive firmware upgrade procedure, you won’t be able to use SmartStart inclusion (scan QR code, device auto-includes). Normal “classic” inclusion will work fine.
Great - thanks for the advice. I’m in the process of replacing old Samsung sensors that I had years ago with SmartThings. They are super picky and starting to go bad. I may in the near future get a Sonoff stick and the Aeotec Gen 7 Seaver stick to replace the Nortek.
