Z-wave firmware update already in progress

Z-wave JS firmware update continues to fail with the following message:

“Failed to call service update/install. Z-Wave error 1508: Failed to start the update: A firmware update is already in progress on this network! (ZW1508)”

The error message and the error code are both of no help in searching. Restarting HA does not clear the error.

I found the following code that may be related:

node-zwave-js/Controller.ts at 1f807c6342a0de251c6c9f03e183d292c3d4fc5b · zwave-js/node-zwave-js (github.com)

Any idea how to clear the system thinking that a firmware update is in progress?

I’m experiencing this as well. I’ve never been able to successfully update firmware with my installed switches.

I had this happen. I shut down zwavejs temporarily, unplugged the zstick and plugged it back in, and also had to reboot the device (breaker power off and on) that I was trying to update firmware on. I updated one switch fine, but the switch near the edge of the network in the garage won’t update.

Thinking I’ll have to take the switch out and closer to the machine/zstick to get the firmware update to go through.

I’m also affected. Spend already 6 hours updating one device. Zwave restart, HA server restart, Unplugging Zwave stick, Re-pair of the device, Factory reset the device, nothing helps.

Pulling my hair right now, but that does not help either…

@freshcoast , my Zwave Wizzard, any idea?

Mine eventually worked. No idea when or what changed to make it work.
