Hello!
I have read all of the release notes associated with HAOS 14 and 14.1 and I fully understand the minimum version of Z-Wave JS required with HAOS 14 (the official addon, not community):
As I run the official add-on I know I need version 0.9.0
My challenge is how do I update the official addon to 0.9.0? I still have the challenge where it wants me to update…
Does anyone have any suggestions? I’m relatively new to home assistant.
For all those who might ask; I am running HAOS 14.1 on proxmox installed via the helper scripts ( Proxmox VE Helper-Scripts ). I’ve removed the VM and reinstalled via the script and yet still have the same problem.
I hope you wise experts out there can assist!
Welcome!
If you go to Settings → Add-ons → Z-Wave JS, you can see what version you are currently using, and there should be an update option if it’s not the most recent 0.9.0…
Hey PecosKidd,
Apologies; I use the Z-Wave integration and not the add-on.
So under the Settings → Devices and Services → Integrations I see the integration has failed.
In my setup I have a Raspberry Pi actually running the Z-Wave JS UI with the z-wave stick etc. In the integration I just point it to the URL of the Web Socket server of Z-Wave JS UI running on the Raspberry Pi.
My challenge is the z-wave integration itself is throwing the error due to the version required.
Here’s an image of the integrations configured and the Z-Wave integration failing. Its a wide image so hopefully it displays correctly here.
Ok… I just re-read your reply and now get that you are trying to connect to an existing and external Pi that is running your Z-Wave Server. I use the add-on for that purpose, so unfortunately I don’t have any experience to offer on how to make the connection you need or troubleshoot that environment.
The naming of this stuff is frustrating and leads to unnecessary confusion… but I think since you aren’t using the Add-On (and instead are using your Pi as the Z-Wave server), it’s probably the last bullet point in your first post that applies to you, and not the first bullet point. What version of Z-Wave is running on the Pi?
Do you already have an existing Z-Wave network set up on the stick in the Pi, or are you just starting with Z-Wave?
That’s an interesting comment about the Add-on. I wonder if installing the add-on even though I dont intend to use it would bump the version appropriately so the integration would work… I’ll try that and report back.
In the interim; here is all of the version info from the Raspberry Pi running the Z-Wave server:
I do already have an existing Z-Wave network setup on the stick in the Pi; but I can easily blow it away and start again. As an aside, the Pi has been very stable and I’m quite happy with the performance of the z-wave network.
The reason for the separate hardware from the HAOS host is I needed to move the z-wave stick to another location to better reach my z-wave devices.
I’ve just tried installing the Z-Wave JS Addon version 0.9.0; it seems to have had no effect on the integration. It still shows an error.
I have been assuming the integration is the challenge here. I’ll update the Z-Wave JS UI on the Raspberry Pi to the latest and see if that has any impact.
Hello PecosKidd,
Thank you for all of your help! With your assistance I’ve successfully resolved the error.
It was the Zwave JS UI instance running on the Raspberry Pi.
Updated version info:
I had assumed that by updating Home Assistant OS to version 14+ that it would only affect the HAOS install/VM. I did not expect it to cause an issue with an external device running a server that had been stable for many months.
So even though I read the release notes for HAOS 14+, I didn’t actually read them…
For anyone stumbling across this thread in the future:
- Z-Wave integration on HAOS complaining about version of the z-wave server
- Z-wave server was on separate hardware; update said z-wave server to the latest
- Z-wave integration working as expected
