I have purchased some of NEO Shenzhen devices that are series 700 like their latest 5in1 NAS-PD07Z and few others and using HUSBZB-1 with latest version of wave js. I was able to add the device, however configuration file does not exist so I cannot configure the devices.
My question is, how easy is it to add the configuration file I made onto my local installation?
and after I test it, How I can include this also in the official database for future updates and other users to benefit from?
It would be best to open an issue here, following their instructions. The zwavejs
web pages detail how to make a device configuration file. When I did it, I based my file of fone of the existing ones as a guide.
Thanks @Prodigyplace I already read the instructions and created the config file and I will post an issue there, however; post here because I want to know how can I test my config with HASS.
So if anyone know please do let me know.
I believe you need to compile zwavejs
yourself to do that.
I did not have much success so I waited for the entry to be released.
If you are using any of the addons, there is no way to test config files w/o accessing the containers yourself, which is an advanced topic (I couldn’t tell you how).
If you are using a standalone installation, all you have to do is copy the file into the device config priority directory, and it will override the packaged version. In the case of zwavejs2mqtt docker, this would be the store/config
directory.
I tried that and it did not work for me even though I was running a new enough version. That is why I waited for the release.
Well, I can’t speak to your specific situation, but I was successful in using it. There are no open or recently closed issues reported that I can find reporting any problems, so as far as the zwave-js projects are aware, it’s working as expected. If you continue to have problems, I’d suggest submitting an issue.
I am using the addon and I consider myself moderate user in terms of technical knowledge and I can handle using putty and transferring file to my NUC if I know where is the location of the file rather than search the full setup which i know is complex since all are in containers.
appreciate any help to save time googling.
My situation was unusual since the device was already incorrectly defined in a database entry with other versions of the device. I needed to remove it from that file and make a new one for my device.
