Is it possible to backup the store folder, then restore it to different hardware (including a different z-wave usb stick)? Or are the devices bound to the stick its self? I currently use the HUSBZB-1 Nortek, and want to know what happens if it dies…can I just restore to a new one?
The network is stored on the stick itself, except for any encryption keys. Some people have been able to backup or clone their sticks but I do not remember anybody doing that with this stick.
I do not think the Zigbee network is stored on the stick.
I have the Aeotec Z-Stick Gen5 and the HUSBZB-1 stick (only used for zigbee) and I’ve only been able to find a way to back up the Aeotec using Aeotec specific software built by them for that purpose.
There is a separate zigbee.db that HA uses but I still thought all of the binding/pairing info was stored on the stick itself. Could very well be wrong (and likely am…)
I used the Z-Stick Gen5 Backup Software : Aeotec Help Desk mentioned in the link to back up the Nortek HUSBZB-1 and restore it to a AEOTEC GEN5 stick. Exported and imported my nodes and settings from the previous zwavejs2mqtt and so far so good.
Very good to know. I also have the HUSBZB-1 and recently purchased the Aeotec Z-Stick 7. Do you think this will work to restore to that newer controller?
