Z-Wave Lock Status: "Deadbolt Jammed"

My Schlage BE468 Deadbolt has been working without problems, and suddenly yesterday I noticed its status was “Unknown”. I am using Home Assistant’s built in Z-Wave manager with the AEON Labs ZW090 Z-Stick Gen5 US.

So I did some poking around on the Z-Wave Integration page noticed the “Lock Jammed” notification. It may have felt a little bit sticky at first. But it is operating freely now and the motor sounds normal when opening from the keypad. Does anyone know how to clear this error?

I should also mention that, while I don’t understand what they do, I tried both “Heal Node” and “Refresh Node”.

You say you locked and unlocked it since it showed that status? I have a different version fo Schlage zwave lock, but the status should update every time the deadbolt position changes. For instance, right now, mine says lock_status: Manually Locked by Key Cylinder or Inside thumb turn

The status isn’t updating. It is moving freely, and it is not having any problem manually turning or turning when a keypad code is entered. I feel like it is stuck in a confused state. I’m wondering if I need to exclude and include it to reset it?

That’s really weird. It may be stuck…

In order of least to most destructive:

  1. Give it a few days and see if it fixes itself
  2. Remove and replace batteries, operate the lock, then check status
  3. Exclude then re-include the lock
  4. Exclude, perform a factory reset, then include

Also, in your second post, you mentioned that you don’t know what the heal and refresh do. From the Zwave docs on HA:

Unplugging the battery pack for a minute and plugging it back in solved it! Thank you for the suggestions and information!

Ran into this myself and the suggestion to unplug the battery for a couple of minutes, did the trick, thanks for sharing.
