Hi. I have one device, a plug, that is constantly updating the “last seen” time in the HA log. Is there a way to fix that?
I noticed that this is the only zwave device that was, for some reason, added without security. I am not sure if that could be the cause. Should all devices use security? I am reading conflicting things. Also, can I add the pin to a device that has already been added, to add security to it?

It is normal for last_seen to be updated every few minutes for a device such as a plug, which sends periodic energy reports. If you do not want it to appear in the logbook at all, you can configure a filter to exclude it. Or you can check the plug parameters to see if it supports configuring a longer reporting interval. Security probably doesn’t have an effect on this interval.
It is up to you if you want your devices to use security (encryption / authentication) or not. Personally, I think the risk is low and do not use S2 except for alarm system components. If you want to change a device from no security to use S2, you need to exclude it and add it again. Do not try to use S0.
