Z-wave smoke detector alarm causes Z-wave dimmer to blink INFITELY

Posting here as a last resort and sanity check because I’m about to lose my freaking mind.

I use Z-wave JS UI to manage my Z-wave network in HA. I have invested time and money in three POPP Z-wave smoke detector + sirens (model POP_701486, although HA sees them as POP_004001) plus external power supply because I got tired of replacing batteries.

They work. When one is triggered, they set the Z-wave network into ALARM state. This not only causes the other detectors to go off as well, but also causes other Z-wave devices to start blinking on or off, turning my house into a disco.

Pretty weird default behaviour (it was even toggling my central ventilation on and off every few seconds), but a quick search soon led to the correct parameter to disable this behaviour for my Fibaro switches.

However, I also have several Sunricher ZV2835RAC-NF knob dimmers installed (AFAIK the only Z-wave knob dimmers that work without a neutral lead). It happened twice now that these buggers start blinking when I’m testing the smoke alarms and… they. will. not. stop. blinking. EVER.

Cycling the power doesn’t work (even with minutes in between). I then tried to factory reset the dimmer. This turned the node into a “unknown product/unknown manufacturer” state in Z-wave JS UI, but it didn’t stop the connected light (as well as the red LED on the front) from blinking. Strangely, this happens only when the dimmer happens to be powered on during the time of the alarm, as another dimmer that was off is still working as expected.

This happened twice now, leaving me with no other option than to rip out the dimmer and get a new one as it seems to be in a permanently unfixable state.

Any Z-wave nerds out there that know how to disable this ridiculous alarm response? If not, I’m in doubt if I should be throwing out my dimmers or my smoke alarms…

I am NOT an experienced techie but the first thing I would try is to see if there is the wrong setting in the motion detectors.
