Hi all, have a HomeSeer HS-WX300 Switch that I’ve had installed for a while, yesterday I decided I’d give it a try and re-add it to my Home Assistant vis Z-Wave JS integration with Security enabled (these switches refuse to communicate On/Off commands with Security enabled). I did this because HomeSeer had stated they were now partnering with Home Assistant and that Security would now work (it doesn’t still).
After adding back, testing, and confirming that they still do not in fact work with Security enabled, I removed and rejoined the device back to my network without Security. This time I’ve hit a new issue. Instead of coming down like it had before, and all of it’s other switch counterparts, as a Switch, this one now shows up as a Light class is in Home Assistant.
Wouldn’t have thought twice about it, except everything else is a Switch, so my groups can no longer include a Light in a Switchgroup. I tried to see if I could take advantage of the “Show As” helper as seen Here but that’s not available for a device discovered as a Light.
Anyone ever have this happen, any idea how to re-classify it correctly as a Switch?
Thanks for the suggestion. I checked this Switches config against another one that’s showing as Switch and confirmed all the settings are the same (nothing in there to select Light/Switch unfortunately).
Only thing I am noticing on the device I re-added is in Z-Wave JS console there is a Node called “Multilevel Switch v4” instead of what the others have of “Binary Switch v2”. I’m now wondering if adding it back with the Switch Mode of Dimmer instead of On/Off might be the reason (that configuration can be done prior to Z-Wave inclusion at the physical switch itself, or after via config changes in the Z-Wave Controller).
Interesting! I have Fibaro dimmers that always show up as lights even if the dimming is disabled. However, their dual-relays only show up as switches. It’s actually a pain to remember that both the light and the switch are in-wall light switches…
This was it, if I don’t set the switch to be a non-Dimmer before inclusion it shows up as a Light, and if set as a non-Dimmer prior to inclusion shows up as a Switch. Good to know, thanks for all the responses on this!
