Z-Wave Switches No Load Question

Hi,
I am new to home assistant and Home automation in general. I currently have one LED Wifi controller working on a Time of day schedule with no other devices just to show how new I am.

My Question has to do with switches. I am hoping my diagram attaches correctly to make this make sense. I currently have 3 Ceiling lights in my kitchen controlled by a normal SPST ON/OFF switch. The lights are wired in a non-switch loop standard wiring configuration where the power is feed into the switch box and the lights are feed off the load side of the switch. What I am looking to do is to split these 3 lights to have 2 of them controlled by an On/Off Switch and the other Controlled by a Dimmer switch. Now with the wiring the way it is I am not able to physically get a dedicated wire to one of the switches. So my thought was to remove the switch from the current wiring and wire it straight through so there is main power to the first light fixture. I will then split the wiring up accordingly to get the lights split how i would like but then use the Aeotec Nano switches (one On/Off and One Dimmer) wired inline with the lights in the ceiling and then get two switches that can be installed in the switch box but with out a load wired to it.

Where my newness comes in is how would i make this work in home assistant. i would like the On/Off switch to turn the Nano Switch On/Off when toggled and then the same with the Dimmer switch to control the Nano Dimmer switch On/Off along with the brightness. If it wasnt clear I will be planning to Use Z-Wave switches since the Nano's are z-wave.

Please let me know if this is not clear. I have done some searching but have not been able to come accross how you actually get a dimmer switch to control another dimmer switch.

Not sure why it posted with out word Wrap the first time.

Associations is most likely what you’re after here. That allows you to have one device directly control another, no need for you to create automations.

Once all devices have been included (joined to the controller), then you would go to Configuration -> Z-Wave -> Z-Wave Node Management. Select your “master” device (the one without the load) and scroll down to Node group associations. You’ll have one or more groups shown here (if it’s the Aeotec Nano Dimmer, then 4 groups), you’ll probably want to select the first group here, and then in Node to Control select the “slave” device (the one with the load). Repeat for the switch.

You may also have to change other settings in the master device, the manual should guide you. For example, on an Aeotec Nano Dimmer you’ll probably need to change the configuration parameter 80 to 3 for Multilevel switch control. It may take a little experimentation to get those right - I don’t have any to be able to tell you for certain.

Thanks Tinkerer. That helps me alot. At least I know I can do what I want to do. Now I can go out and get these and start playing.
