Any fellow Canadian care to share where/what they are buying when it comes to controlling sockets/plugins? Amazon.ca is overloaded with wifi and zwave devices but I can’t find confirmation on what is what isn’t going to be HASS compatible.
I also found an Orvibo socket for a reasonable price on amazon so if I don’t want to gamble (need something in time for my wife to use with the Christmas tree) should I just stick to stuff like that which looks like it has direct component support?
Believe it or not, Home Depot may be your best bet.
They carry the Leviton line and have them on sale right now. The Leviton stuff isn’t the cheapest but it’s backed with a very good warranty (and one that Home Depot will honour) and come in a variety of different modules:
You can also pretty safely assume you’re not going to burn your house down with Leviton stuff. Some of the Z-wave stuff you buy on Amazon can be pretty sketchy.
I personally use several different Leviton Z-wave products and while I use them with a Wink controller, it’s safe to say, they’ll work directly with a USB Z-Wave stuck with HASS.
