I have a Kwikset 620 z-wave entry door lock. The lock was previously used with an ADT security system which has since been disabled and I have migrated to using Z-WaveJS on HA. Ever since moving over to HA my batteries for the door die in about a month. Before the migration I would get 6 months or more battery life. Does anyone have any suggestions or experience in fixing this issue?
I have several HC620's in use at various properties with HA and the batteries all last 4 - 6 months for me if I'm not using rechargable.
How exactly are you using them with your HA setup? Are you directly programming / managing them yourself with automations or using something like KeyMaster Z-Wave lock manager and scheduler or Custom Component: Lock Code Manager - an integration to manage lock usercodes across multiple integrations (Z-Wave, Matter, Zigbee2mqtt via mqtt, Schlage WiFi)?
I am just using Z-WaveJS to manage all of my Z-Wave devices. With Z-WaveJS UI being integrated in 1.0 I have not needed anything else to manage the locks.
What is interesting is my battery graph. It shows random dramatic drops in battery level but at other points its stable for multiples days.
Are you using rechargeable batteries?
I see things like that when I'm using rechargeable batteries. For instance:
April and May I was using some rechargeable batteries, but I was on some standard Energizer batteries before that and switched back again during the change I did in May.
No I am not using rechargeable batteries, but I was considering them as a temporary solution while I sort out what is killing the batteries so fast. I have used standard AA alkaline batteries utilizing duracell and energizers.
