This one has stopped working for me, supposedly after updating to 2026.2.2.
The action trigger works, but the automation actions are not executed (everything from select onwards). Removing the variables and the select block to just toggle the light entity itself works…
Without further details it’s difficult to understand what or where the problem was.

Furthermore, ZBMINIR2 has a new firmware not long ago… 1.0.8 (20251127), which enables binding. So if you have that firmware, and if you want control a light bulb that is also zigbee , arguably there is no need for this automation anymore.
Is it possible to control a bulb in detached or binding and fallback to classic mode if controller is unreachable ?
If binding is working, this means ZBMINIR2 would be able to talk to your zigbee smart bulb(s) directly - with or without zigbee controller.
So no it would not fall back to classic mode, but then I don’t think it should nor need to nor we would want to - that’s the whole purpose of having zigbee binding in the first place, to establish direct communication.
