Zcombo alarm stuck as "node 5"

I’m trying to set up a zcombo smoke/co alarm with homeassistant. I can get it connected, but it only shows up as “node 5” with no capabilities and re-interviewing does not reveal any additional entities.

It also insists on connecting insecurely and doesn’t give me an opportunity to add the DSK, which I’m told might fix the issue. How do I force it to a higher security level?

You will have to exclude and re-include it.

If you use Z-Wave JS UI you can pre-populate the DSK to avoid having to input the PIN manually.

i have excluded and reincluded it many times, the second screenshot is what happens when i do that.

How do I get Z-wave JS UI to pre-populate the DSK? and just to be clear, we’re talking about this add-on, right?

If the node fails security bootstrapping, then the only choice is to exclude and try again. You cannot “add” security to a node already added.

That screenshot is the Z-Wave JS add-on, not the Z-Wave JS UI add-on.

If you continue to have issues, you might need to try some troubleshooting and/or post driver logs.

Make sure you’re using a USB extension cable.
