Hi.
I’ve been slowly migrating off the Ikea Hub integration due to unstable behavior. Now I am facing different issues with ZHA.
There are two ways of direct binding features under “Manage Zigbee device” → BINDINGS.
- Bind one device at a time. → used this for binding many bulbs, one at a time.
- Bind groups.
I’ve been using both, with different issues for each.
#1 Direct Binding
If I direct bind 3 bulbs Ikea trådkfri bulbs (one at a time) towards e.g., Ikea 5-button switch, it works, and has low latency, but… If one bulb is powerless, I can’t control any of the 2 remaining bulbs with my 5-button remote (still works from HA). Why?
#2 Group Binding
If I create two separate groups, each with a HZC relay, and then bind each button of my Schneider Double button to each group, I have a high latency when turning on/off and dimming. If I bind directly to one of the HZC, the latency goes down, but both buttons works as one button (the left & right button performs the same action).
On top of this, I can’t control the relays with binding to a group, if HA is down.
Why am I seeing this behavior? Is this ZHA-related or Zigbee related? Would Zigbee2MQTT handle these use cases better?
My primary use case for doing direct binding is to have a lower latency and have all lights controllable working when HA goes down, or ZHA is acting up.
Note
I have tried unpairing the 2-button controller with HA, but then the controller stops working.
I am running the latest HA on a RPI 4.
