I have Z2M on Dongle-E for a while, and I would like to add Matter/Thread to my HA. I bought another Dongle-E, flashed OpenThread firmware. But when I plug this dongle to my HA, it is detected as a Zigbee USB and enables ZHA. Now on the Setting page, it has Zigbee, and in that Zigbee menu, shows the ZHA is online.
The Dongle-e has been successfully added as a Thread border router; however, I cannot remove or disable ZHA.
ZHA is not really “installed”, it’s just a side effect of the system detecting a ZHA type coordinator.
I changed from ZHA to Z2M in late 2025, and my system now shows the same thing. Others have also expressed their system exhibiting the same, FWIW. I don’t know the cure, nor how to bring this to the attention of responsible parties.
