I have today received 2 x Aqara smoke alarms from AliExpress and the reviews said they’re compatible with Home Assistant.
After further reading today it turns out that they can only be added via ZHA integration and not Deconz.
I successfully added ZHA and it found my Conbee stick and then the smoke alarm and everything else currently connected to the Conbee stick, however, this stopped all automations already running. For example my door sensor under my stairs didn’t turn run to turn on the light when the door was opened.
I don’t want to redo all my automations so is there a way to just add the smoke alarms under ZHA and not add anything else already connected to the Conbee stick?
My fear is to add everything but then remove all bar the smoke alarm and this completely cock everything up.
As soon as I removed the ZHA integration everything went back to as it was prior to adding.
Not with that stick. One stick One integration. You can use ZHA - OR - Deconz - OR - Zigbee2MQTT at any single point of time. but once one has the stick open the others cannot use it.
Your choices are move everything to ZHA, or, Keep it the way it was without those devices OR - get a second stick just for them - ALTHOUGH your mileage with that may vary. Remember Zigbee is a mesh - and battery powered devices don’t repeat, and you’d be setting up a second entire ZigBee mesh - so you’d also likely need line powered repeaters to ensure good comms to those smokes. (it suddenly becomes an expensive proposition)
Chances are ‘updating your automations’ will entail - renaming the ‘new’ entities to match the ‘old’ names.
Consider which path you prefer. I know which option I’d pick.
no worries - if it worked mark the reply ass the solution for others to find later. Sorry I dont know how to add custom device support to Deconz - someone here may be able to hep
