Any help is greatly appreciated

What I coincidence! I bit the bullet and upgraded proxmox to v8 yesterday and had a similar issue with z2mqtt addon. Even after restarting both HA and z2mqtt, The addon kept crashing.

In my case, I simply had to unplug the zigbee coordinator for a minute & plug it back in, before restarting z2mqtt. That fixed all issues for me - hopefully it’ll also work for you.

Thanks,
I tried a lot of things but that wasn’t one of them. Didn’t help unfortunately.
Par for the course after rolling the VM back to a snapshot first then a full backup.

Built a new VM and restored home assistant form a backup TAR.
Issue persists.

You don’t mention how your coordinator’s path is defined in ZHA. If you’re not using serial by id and using something like ACM0, in all probability the path has changed after the update.
ZHA is probably still trying to speak to the coordinator on the old path. Look up the ZHA docs on how to set serial by id instead
