It seems to me ZHA is loosing the “battle” to zigbee2mqtt, device support is lacking and its not trivial to add new devices with quirks in ZHA.
Why cant Home Assistant do the same integration with zigbee2mqtt as they did with zwavejs2mqtt ditching the need for mqtt? And discontinue ZHA? Focusing on zigbee2mqtt with joint venture?
That’s one of the few grudges I still have with HA.
ZHA seems way easier to use, but there’s overall less device support, and rarely any help adding new devices. You have to dig around with confusing and overly technical details, what makes me want to switch to Z2M… but then, it’s also quite detailed and overly technical.
It’s very frustrating indeed, specially if you consider people could be joining forces and working together on a single tool, instead of keeping work separate and leaving the official tool taking dust on this “race”
Then again, why not simply throw away ZHA and join forces with the shared Z2M team, maybe working on a simpler interface for HA instead of a complete separate tool that lacks support for a lot of new (and not so new) devices?
