Going to take the plunge from ZHA with a Cone II to Z2M with my new Sonoff
I have 60 ZHA devices mostly just aqara sensors.
I know I’ll have to go and repair the devices so I made a spreadsheet with the device names and the entity names used in automations.
Do I need to remove / disable ZHA before adding the Z2M and parking devices?
Ideally I’d like to keep the same names for entities that are used on cards or automations but I’d have to change them in ZHA for them to be available to be named in Z2M.
Has anyone does this process? Any tips to keep it as smooth as possible?
I’ve no experience with it, but I think there’s a way to backup from zha and restore to z2m without need to pair all again. So maybe it is worth to search the forum some more.
The beauty of having two sticks is running ZHA and z2m side by side. You can keep everything functional in ZHA and migrate devices over to z2m one at a time at your leisure instead of it being a mad rush trying to do everything all at once.
Assuming you’re automating with state triggers and entity IDs, a lot of basic stuff will just work by keeping the device/entity names the same as you plan, but there will still be some differences. Be prepared to tweak some of the automations accordingly. Any automation using device trigger/IDs will have to be manually updated.
But again, with both platforms running side by side you don’t have to be in a rush.
THIS. 100%. I am in the process of making the same switch and have slowly been migrating devices from ZHA to Z2M. I’m a little over halfway there and it couldn’t have been easier.
