Hi, trying to add this Sonoff Zigbee dongle (Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus–ZBDongle-E), but having the same problem as quite a few others. Linux system here. Manjaro.
If I restart the HA system, the dongle comes up as a new device detected, if I click on configure, and then “send” then I get “Failed to probe the usb device”.
If I try to manually install (add integration, search for, not Sonoff(?) but zha) the device is again found at the /dev/ttyUSB0 - Sonof … location, but I end up getting a “Failed to connect” error.
Some say this is a python issue, but this was a while ago. Is it fixed? Please help.
I’m not saying that your installation method is the reason it’s not working, but you are running one of the least used installation methods, and your method commands more knowledge than the others.
I would troubleshoot your OS logs first, see if you have any USB issues there before diving into the HA installation.
Never use the tty port, use the long name with all the gobledygook in it. Then it doesn’t matter what tty port the OS assigns to it. It should be found.
Hi, cheers thank you for the suggestion. I tried that earlier without luck. I will now try to install using the “recommended method” by restoring the HA-OS image onto the disk. That’s a pretty crude way of installing things, but it that’s what it takes…I will get back with my result an try what you guys suggested. Thx!
So to follow up, this is evolving into an installation thread…Ubuntu-USB-restore-image (a recommended method) didn’t work (disk util wouldn’t restore haos-image onto internal SSD). But, when I made a Manjaro-Linux live-USB I succeeded (using gnome-disks, again as recommended). So now I have HAOS running on my Intel NUC 7i7bnh. I insisted on wifi connection and enabled that manually, and was able to ping the outside world from the HAOS server but, nope, it couldn’t be reached via web interface or otherwise. So I gave in and connected via ethernet, and now, it works. AND sees my zigbee dongle. Yay. So I learned that: read the manual, and if that doesn’t work, do what it says in the manual…
