I am based in the UK and looking to upgrade our bathroom downlights to Zigbee, RGB+W downlights that can be controlled by HA (Zigbee2MQTT).
I would like to fit IP65 rated downlights if at all possible. I can see that Philips make an IP44 colour downlight but only available with a silver bezel.
Does anyone have any experience of fitting IP65, RGB+W, Zigbee controlled downlights in a bathroom and if so what manufacturer/model did you go with or what would you recommend?
Do you really need RGBW in a bathroom, or is it CCT you’re actually looking for? Personally, I wouldn’t wanna be showering and having the fright of my life because my junk looks green just because my bulbs are the wrong colour
Joking aside, If you haven’t looked here already, please do. I’d search for a CCT controller which ideally can has an output of 230/240v. Just plop that in the ceiling somewhere away from moisture, grab yourself some dumb CCT bulbs inside an IP65 enclosure and job’s done.
If you don’t get any luck with 230v, I’m pretty sure 12/24v controllers and bulbs are quite easy to find too.
Have you given a thought as to how you would want to physically control the colour once these are installed? You might have to install a smart switch (with decoupled mode) to manually change colour without having to rely on automations.
Cheers matey.
Normally it would indeed be the warm white light. But my better half likes to have a bubble bath with some mood lighting and music playing etc.
I do have decoupled smart switches controlling the lights. The intention is for single press for normal warm white light. Double press for the bath time mood lighting (or once i get round to it voice assistant control to set the lighting/music etc)
Many thanks for the controller ideas though, I think IP65 enclosures with RGB Zigbee bulbs is the way to go for us.
