I am searching for a Zigbee door / window sensor with an actual reed switch, rather than a embedded Hall effect sensor.
This is for wiring up dry contacts to a Zigbee node that will present on/off state (open/closed).
I have been using Ikea Parasoll but these are no longer available after Ikea’s conversion to matter. Tuya and Aquara sensors typically use a Hall effect sensor, often embedded in a multi purpose chip. This is not suitable for my use case as I need to connect an external switch.
An alternative would be a reasonably priced battery powered Zigbee button that would present one state on circuit closed and another on open. I haven’t been able to find one, the majority of Zigbee buttons seem to use a single sensor and toggle the on-off state.
Anything out there? Or does someone have some Parasoll sensors sitting in there parts bin that they are willing to sell?
There’s an old thread on the Hubitat forum here that gives some options. Looks like the Sonoff SNZB-04 would work. Z-Wave sensors seem to have more options for external inputs. And as slh said, any water leak sensor would work too. The Aqara has screws for the contacts that make it easy to connect wires to.
Regarding the Parasolls: have you been using these? I have 3 kicking around and was about to pick up some Aqara water leak sensors to make some pressure sensors because I thought the Parasolls used a Hall effect sensor. If you’ve been successfully using the Parasolls for DIY and can confirm they have a reed switch it would a really nice surprise!
(Discussion elsewhere suggested they were using Hall effect, I haven’t done a teardown of one personally).
