I haven’t tried esphome since the developer of the external component has gone silent. Esphome would be nice, because it could run PID on it’s own, and it could get better accuracy / responsiveness with filters on the temperature data.
What is it that is missing for you? I am sure that the temp is just connected to a GPIO and it looks to me like it should be GPIO 0, 1, or 3. It should be straight forward to test this temp senor on those GPIOS to see if it get a good value.

Shelly gen 1 aren’t available any more, I never got it to work, and there’s no equivalent package available for gen 2 devices. In addition, the relay, add-on, and ds18b20 costs some 50€, which is pretty much in my opinion. I’m actively looking for something more suitable. The new add-on is also thicker.
Shelly works locally out of the box. Home Assistant integration is great.
