Zigbee Radiator Controller

Hi,

I have seen many projects, where the setpoint of the radiator is changed. But this way you do not have a real controller.

I am looking for PI(D) -Controller, where the Radiator valve only acts as an actor. The sensor would be a different device. The radiator valves I had here for testing did not allow you to set the valve position via Zigbee (again, only temp set point).

Has anyone a working system, where the vales are simple actors, without any controlling by themself and all the logic within HA?

Maybe I think to much like an engineer, but this is how I imagine smart heating…

P.S. I am well aware, that without any logic in the valve, a defective sensor might cause problems

current version v this TRV

has option AA to set value for Control type of valve=PID. On their web seems to be older version of manual, in mine AB=Reset.
I will check during the week what it does.

Hi. I came across this thread, very interesting! I would like to use this TRV and control it via Home Assistant. But not on/off switching the valve, it will switch very often and this will limit battery life and maybe also lifespan of this TRV. I would like to control it proportionally, so by setting the valve opening (%) via Home Assistant. Did you find out what this PID option really does? Many thanks!

Is there any shift in this control? I would like to send the head only on and off, but unfortunately it has the same problem, the tutor only to specify the target temperature.

its strange that there doesnt seem any radiator valves out there that can be controlled manually by setting the position state. I have allot of radiatos behind a enclosure. within it, it sometimes gets more then 40 degrees. so using normal smart valves is totally useless. i need valves that i can control using a sensor in the room instead of on the radiator itself. But not one company seems to make valves that can be controlled only by setting the position of the valve. If some one comes across one please let me know… preferable zigbee.

Hi together, ive read this thread because im searching for a PID module.

Im happy to announce you guys, that there is a Zigbee Radiator Thermostat which can be controlled directly. There is a TRV mode wich you can set to manual and directly control the valve. This is the Thermostat:
https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/devices/SPZB0001.html

In Europe they sell it as “Eurotronic Spirit Zigbee”. There is also a ZWave Version, but i dont know if this one ich directly controllable.

Now my question: Is there a PID module which can take Temperature Sensors and Setpoint as an input and output a value between 0 and 100 for the valve control?

Edit: Found it: GitHub - ScratMan/HASmartThermostat: Smart Thermostat with PID controller for HomeAssistant

Lets see how this works. Seems it has also an autotune part. So it may learn by itself.

Hi together,

I’m new here and bought a RSP 4 and installed Home Assistent 2 weeks ago.

Has anyone tried this if it works with the Eurotronic Trv and the pid controller? Is this also possible with the ZHA Integration?

I am looking for just such a solution.
I have already ordered the Trv and will try that :grinning:.
I have already setup Aqara temperature sensors in some rooms and would use them to control the room temperature with the trv.

Sadly this thermostat is no longer available anywhere.
Aren’t there still no other thermostats that can be manually controlled?
This is so sad. Currently I have a Tado but I hate it! It gets warm sooo slow. When it has reached the target temp after a whole day it already needs to cool down for the night.
I have also testet 3 other thermostats and none of them managed to heat to the target temp. Sometimes too cold, sometimes too hot. But never the target temp.
I even had one where I could send the actual temperature to it so it won’t have the sensor directly by the radiator. But even this one failed. It has heated 1°C above the target temp and then only started heating again after being 1°C below the target temp!
