Zigbee range and how to optimise

Dear All,

I am new with zigbee and home assitant. I have setup about 25 devices in my home assistant instance but I have the following two questions that I cannot seem to find answer to:

1. is it best to add device in the home assistant setting page via the controller or via the add device option?

2. I have a zigbee light bulb in my bedroom with 3 switches but I find that the either:

• one of the switch does not work
• none of them work.

However, I did the following setup to improve the situation with no improvements:

• added a smart plug zigbee in the bedroom and in the stairway to improve range
