Zigbee remote that still works when HASS / zigbee coordinator are off?

I recently bought a Hue remote control for my Hue bulb in the garden and I hoped that the remote would work independently from from HASS/zigbee2mqtt and that it would still work even when the zigbee coordinator is not within reach (which is the case when my blinds are down).
It seems that I can pair the remote directly to the bulb, creating an separate zigbee mesh that cannot be controlled via HASS/zigbee2mqtt. The other option is to connect both to my mesh, but then I need to setup an automation that stops working when HASS is down or out of reach.

I my understanding correct?
Are there other remotes that can be paired directly to a bulb in an existing mesh (f.e. tradfri remote or ZYCT-202)?

Did you try binding ?

Googled so much that I overlooked the obvious documentation :see_no_evil:

It did not work as expected: unbinding from the coordinator and binding to the bulb always resulted in errors Failed to bind cluster 'genLevelCtrl' from '0x00xxx' to '0x00yyy'
Then I pressed the remote’s on button for a few seconds near the bulb, and now I can use both the remote and HASS to control the bulb

But most important, it now works :grinning:

Thanks for pointing me to the docs
