I have been looking around a lot for a good solution here, but I would like to hear what other people have done.
I’m looking for a Zigbee Smoke and ideally heat alarms in the UK. (using ZigbeeToMQTT)
In a perfect world, these would be Battery, but I can run wires if I really need to.
I would really like the ability to silence them too, so if I’m cooking steak and it sets off the alarm I can hit a physical button and silence it for 10mins in the same way as you can by pressing the physical button.
Doing some research I have found the Aqara Smart Smoke Detector but it’s not available in the UK, although I could get it through AliExspress. But before I bite that bullet I would like to hear feedback from others.
I also found the Frient Smoke and Heat alarms, but it doesn’t look like these can be silenced, I do have other Frient devices and I can buy them in the UK. Having a specific Heat alarm in the kitchen might negate the need for a silence button.
Interested to hear what other people are doing regards to Smart Smoke Alarms in the UK.
I’m using the honeywell zigbee smoke detector. Works good but don’t have the need to turn off manually (and yes once in a while it goes off when baking a good steak)
In case anyone is interested or stumbles on this later, I ended up going with Frient Heat and Smoke alarms and seem to be working and integrating really well. I can trigger the siren manually so I could link it to an alarm later and I can silence the alarm if I need to.
All in all very happy, although they are on the pricy side.
