Zigbee/Wifi HA Compatible Lock

I am new to HA and home automation in general. I want to keep things as simple as possible so I want to integrate whatever I can through Zigbee or Wifi, and not use any brand-specific hubs. So far I’ve only installed some sensors from different brands and haven’t had any problems - everything works with Zigbee.

Now I want to get a retrofit door lock and am a bit stuck - I am looking for a retrofit door lock that:

  • Works over Zigbee or Wifi.
  • Does not require a third party hub.
  • Basic features - being able to lock/unlock through HA, check status, etc.

So far I did some researched the following Yale Linus 2 (requires hub), Switchbot Pro (requires Bluetooth) and Aqara U200 (requires Thread and hub).

Any recommendations on this? Thanks in advance!

I haven’t bought one yet, but I see there are some branded Kwikset on Amazon which work on Zigbee. There are some Z-Wave units, too. I imagine any WiFi versions are going to want to phone home to the vendor’s cloud servers, although maybe someone else knows of one which doesn’t.

I ended up buying Switchbot Lock Pro which works with bluetooth. It’s for the better since it can work independently from HA over a protocol that I have on my mobile. This has already saved me once during a power outage (HA and my local network were unavailable.)

Can you confirm the Lock Pro can open the door’s latch with HA when the dorr is not locked? I have an Aqara U200 which can move the latch only when the door is fully locked.

I don’t think it can. I just re-calibrated the lock and made some tests. When I set it to work in latch mode it turns the key counter-clockwise until it opens the door but you can only unlock if it’s already locked.
