ZIGBEE Wled controller

Hi guys,
Im looking to control a room full of light strips which are WLED compatible, so im looking for a controller.

Long story short…I cant use wi-fi, so Im looking to use Zigbee.

I’ve found this product on Amazon uk which looks ideal, however, I cant see any of the reviews, or the description mentioning ‘Home Assistant’.

Does anyonw know if this product is compatible with HA, and if not, does anyone know of a WLED controller that is compatible?

p.s Im not a rocket scientist, but I am decent at searching and have read a lot of threads, but couldnt find a solution.

Hello David.

wLED works on esp32 devices. They work on WIFI. There’s not a way to make zigbee work.

Can’t use WIFI, why? Zigbee runs in the same frequency range and will cause ‘traffic’ there as well…

That looks identical to the Gledopto controllers, I have a Gledopto branded RGBW version and it’s standards compliant and works with ZHA. Haven’t tried that specific brand or wled version, have done several projects with serial controller Rgb LED strips, but those were all DIY projects.

hi and thank you. Ill be honest, most of what you said is compelty over my head (sorry). Do you know how would be best for me to proceed with it?

You can’t proceed with your plan because WLED only uses wifi. There are no zigbee controllers available at the moment which use WLED.

It might help if you answered the following questions

  • Did you buy these light strips already? If yes, then a model number & a link would be helpful.
  • Are you sure you need WLED? Do you need to actually control each individual LED within the strip? If yes, then zigbee controllers for individual LED control do not exist. The controller you linked to does not control individual LEDs - it will set the entire strip to whatever colour/white you choose*.
  • Is there a particular reason why you cannot use Wifi if you really need individual control?

*That controller is supported in Zigbee2Mqtt. Not sure about ZHA (the “default” zigbee in HomeAssistant), but at least you have options.
