Zigbee2MQTT Support Request Please?

Hi. So I have this Zemismart curtain motor ZMS1. I swapped from ZHA to Z2MQTT because I saw that a curtain motor with that same model number has native support. I guess the one that has support is _TZE204_zuq5xxib and the one that I have is _TZE200_fu14oapz. It us a Tuya device, I guess. So needless to say, I was disappointed. I am pretty new to HA, and don’t know a lot about it yet. I would like to submit a request for new support in Z2MQTT, but in order to do that, you need to know how to do all this technical stuff I am totally unfamiliar with. Could someone walk me through it? I’ve looked at the Zigbee2MQTT website How-To page on the subject and it might as well be in a foreign language.

Well, this is Home Assistant, so you are in the wrong place…

I haven’t created an external definition in almost 3 years, but I had a quick look for you. The part of the code which handles these curtain motors is here, but that Tuya file is a beast.

What do you get if you generate your external definition as per these steps?

You mean this?

export default {
zigbeeModel: [‘TS0601’],
model: ‘TS0601’,
vendor: ‘_TZE200_fu14oapz’,
description: ‘Automatically generated definition’,
extend: ,
};

My number is not on that list.

Yes. When you create a new Device Support Request in the Z2M github, add that & point them to the github link I gave you the link to yesterday.
Ask if anyone can create a converter for you with the above details. It’s the best I can do for you since like I said that file is a beast & I’m not familiar with Tuya converters.

I posted over on Z2M discord and they got me squared away! All I had to do was go into the Z2M database and replace my number with one that was supported, and then it will be added to the next release! Very pleased!

Happy for you. Didn’t even know that workaround was possible for devices have a working converter but a model mismatch!

hi, Has this model already been used upstream, it can’t be used ?

we’ve uploaded one for you. If that doesn’t work, you can also try installing it manually.

Good you got it solved!

Please take the time to mark the post that holds the solution.
You do that by selecting the three dots under the post:

Then select the check box:

By doing so:

  • this thread can be useful to other users as well (this thread comes up as solution when starting a thread which is similar to yours).
  • this prevents that someone else steps in trying to help

Thanks for giving back to the community! :+1:

When I first installed it, it showed that it was not exposing anything except link quality.

I appreciate your taking the time! They told me over on the discord that it’s been submitted.
