Zigbee2MQTT Tuya ZY-M100-S_2 illumination issue

Hello everyone,

I’ve been using two Tuya ZY-M100-S_2 devices for some time now, and they’ve been working perfectly so far. However, a few weeks ago, the illumination sensor on both devices stopped working at the same time. Since then, I’ve only had a flatline reading of 4 lux.

I’ve already reconnected them with Zigbee2MQTT, disconnected them from power, etc., with no improvement.

It’s unusual for both sensors to fail at the same time. However, I haven’t updated HA or any other add-ons, etc. Except for the illumination, all other sensors on the device continue to work perfectly.

Does anyone have the same problem and possibly a solution?

The fact it happened to both at the same time does point to some software/firmware update, I think.

Other than that, I have heard some people widening the hole in the front that lets the light in (on this and/or perhaps other models). Which may not help this issue at all, but I wanted to mention it.

If you run out of other ideas, I think there is some updated community firmware for these, which fixes the spamminess and might fix your issue as well. But maybe you are already running it?

Its a known bug in z2mqtt, already fixed in dev, should shortly come to prod.
