Zigbee2MQTT was working and now fails to start

I managed to set up z2m and adding lamps was fairly simple, until I started adding the lamps from my garden.
These are Innr RS 227 T control via MQTT | Zigbee2MQTT

It took some patience to discover them in z2m and when they were finally discovered, the ‘brand name’/‘vendor’ stated ‘not supported’
I was stuck in that place and thought removing them and relinking them would be a good idea. The lamps couldn’t be removed on my first attempt so I tried again with force remove.

After this step, I haven’t managed to access z2m anymore. I have so far:

  • Done reboots of all sorts
  • Uninstalled z2m
  • Removed all backup config found with file editor
and Attempted to reflash the zigbee dongle (which failed with the flasher and sort of succeeded except for one error with the .py script)

Really out of options now, I also can’t pin point whether this is because of a leftover setup in HA or related to the Dongle’s firmware

Please start another thread, and include your logs.

That is the problem. A Zigbee coordinator can only ask a Zigbee device to remove itself from the network. If you force remove, the device still has the network credentials as it was still on the network. You could try rebuilding your Zigbee network with a new network key.

Thanks! That’s interesting and something to keep in mind.

After the following combination of steps the issue was resolved:

  • put back an earlier backup
  • held down reset on the dongle
(You have to take the dongle apart to do this)
  • reinstalled z2m
