Zignito Smart Plug with Energy measurement (Status not showing)

Just purchased a couple of these

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ajax-Online-Zignito-Monitoring-Requires/dp/B09N451YHK

They work and report back Volts, Amps, Power Factor & Power. HA will switch them On & Off but does not reflect there status, i.e. if you manually switch the socket “Off” via the local switch HA still shows it being “On”

Anyone else experience this?

Regards Dave

Mine arrived today.

I am not seeing the power information, just the on/off switch.
I’ve integrated via Zigbee / Deconz.

Which integration have you used?

Using ZHA (hence this forum) and a SONOFF Dongle, I also tried on an old Pi3 running Zigbee2MQTT, the device was found but did not show up on that HA.

On my Pi4 with ZHA it was found straight away and populated the following:- (See photo)

Re Dave

I now have mine working in Deconz. Not quite sure how, the power sensors magically appeared after a few hours.

I can confirm I have the same issue with the on/off switch. If you switch off via the switch itself, the power is not reported over zigbee.

I got mine yesterday and initially it found the device, but none of the entities showed up using ZHA.
After a reboot the entities all appeared, but power factor shows unknown and both apparent power and ac frequency is blank.

I can confirm that if the power button is used on the plug, the status is not reflected in HA.

I’ve discovered a second issue with them.

There were reports of randomly switching off.
Apparently this is because the device has surge protection at 250v.

However, in the UK, the declared voltage and tolerance for an electricity supply is 230 volts -6%, +10%. This gives an allowed voltage range of 216.2 volts to 253.0 volts.

My voltage is currently hovering in the 247 to 249 range, so suspect it occasionally peaks over, and the device trips.

Arrgh! Have contacted their support to see if there is a way to configure a the cut-off to meet with UK defied tolerances.

My understanding is the newer firmware was supposed to address that issue. If you find outc that’s not the case, please do let me know as I’ve peaked over 250v 16 times in 2022 so far

Via deconz/vnc I see I have firmware 0x45, or 69 decimal. Currently trying to find if this is the latest via the support team.

I had noticed that both mine had turned themselves off, but had not got around to the cause, the over voltage explains it. My mains often goes above 250V

Will check my firmware later today.

What’s worse is the two issues combine,
When it does switch off due to a surge, it still reports as on - so you cannot detect the failure and switch it back on.

I have raised this as an issue with HA and ZHA, it might be that the device needs to be added to ZHA to work correctly.

Ive Just purchased four of these. Have i made a mistake?

I use Zigbee2MQTT

I am not that familiar with Zigbee2mqtt. It found them but it did not self populate in HA.

I think the big issue is them turning themselves off, so I will be contacting the supplier about this tomorrow, if enough people raise it as an issue maybe it will be sorted by a firmware update (if that is possible)

Re Dave

Got a link or email where i can also raise this? Although will wait until they arrive and see what the crack is

I have just tested one of these plugs with a calibrated Fluke Multi-meter and can confirm that the socket did turn itself off when the voltage reached 250.5V, the voltage needed to be high for a few seconds, so just not a short spike.

I have contacted them.

Re Dave

Hi Colin

Where are you seeing the firmware reference?

Re Dave

I found this using the VNC interface into the DeConz container.

I have just received mine and set it up via Zigbee2MQTT. I cant find any issue so far.

I power on and off at the plug and i see this in HA as well. I see all the amps and voltage info as well. I dont see a firmware version listed in Zigbee2MQTT though

Does the State of the socket get reflected in HA.

i.e. if you change state using the switch on the socket, does that updated in HA.

I see your mains supply is low at 233V, where are you located Country, part.

Re Dave

Hi. Yes if i turn the switch on and off via its physical button i see this reflected in HA and then of course HA on and off switches the plug on and off.

What i am seeing is that the plug is not always reporting the power and current values. The device plugged inn should be pulling about 700w

My Volts here are normally around 238. I am based in the UK in Kent.
