Does anyone know how to get Zniffer successfully running on a ZST10?
I’m running Simplicity Studio, I’ve upgraded the fw to 7.17.2, but when I run the zniffer tool, if finds the USB stick as COM8, but no frequencies show up in the pull down.
If I click start I get the error: “No Zniffer Module Could Be Detected.”
A Zniffer requires special firmware, it’s not a standard Z-Wave controller. Furthermore, you can’t convert a Zooz ZST10 700 to a Zniffer. The Zniffer firmware only works with 500-series controlllers.
You can buy a Silicon Labs UZB-3 (500-series) and load the Zniffer firmware onto it, see instructions. Once converted to a Zniffer, it’s no longer usable as a controller, although you can flash it back. I bought this one in 2018, it was only $25, how it’s $40+! There are Bridge and Static controller versions, one of them is region dependent. To be safe, buy the one for your region if you decide to go that route.
For a 700-series, the Zwave.meRaZberry 7 supposedly supports Zniffer functionality. The only other possibility for a 700-series is to buy a development board, which costs nearly $400 USD.
I don’t know much about z-wave, but I thought if I had the hw, I might as well play around and see what’s going on.
I tried to find the UZB-3 and I see at Digikey and Mouser that there are several versions, as you indicate (UZB3-BRG, UZB3-S, UZB3-U). I assume I need the UZB3-U-STA.
