ZWA-2 and ZBT-2 running off a powered USB hub

I am fairly new to HA, finally decided to take the plunge and migrate away from Smartthings. I installed HA on a Raspberry Pi 5 and bought a ZWA-2 and ZBT-2 to have a zwave and matter network. I read that USB 3 can give interference so I bought a powered USB 2.0 hub to connect both antennas.

When they are both connected, the Pi looses connection with both. I can see the light on the hub is now turned off and both integrations are failing. The only way back is to unplug the Pi to reboot it. This happens constantly within 1h to 24h.

I have now tried to only plug in the ZWA-2 and it’s now been online for 4 days. Is there an issue with running both off the same hub? Or how should I do it?

Thanks in advance, it’s driving me crazy. I have a Sonoff Zigbee dongle waiting to be connected too.

Sounds like the USB hub you purchased can not supply sufficient power. What are its specifications?

If the hub don’t have an external supply, you may need a different hub.

It’s the LogiLink UA0141A. The power source is 5V 2A. Megekko.nl - LogiLink UA0141A 480Mbit/s USB hub 4 poorten zwart

If anyone can recommend a powered USB 2.0 hub, let me know. I want my installation to be solid but so far I’ve had to monitor it every day.

Hmm. Assuming you are using a good quality plug-pack that should be ok.

1A for the ZWA-2 and 0.5A for the ZBT-2.

I would test another power supply with that hub that has the same connector to validate its not an issue with the supply that it came with.

I think there is indeed something funky with that brand. Bought a D-Link USB 2.0 hub and it seems to be a lot more stable.
