Zwave 500 and 700 sticks together

Possibly a stupid question but I’m still in research phase before thaking the plunge and migrating from Smartthings to HA.

I’m planning on building a dedicated server with hass running on docker with a separated NAS for home media.

One issue I’ve come across is my alarm system uses zwave 700 for all the sensors and I have smart plugs and switches using zwave 500.

Now I could use the Smartthings integration for HA but I’ve read conflicting reports on how good or bad this is so is it possible to HA and have both zwave 500 and 700 series USB sticks plugged into my HA server so I can cover all devices?

Just to add, I have a Smartthings gen 5 hub if that helps.

Thanks in advance :relaxed:

700-Series is backward compatible with 500- and 300-Series, so there’s no need to have multiple dongles. Is there some reason that you can’t just use the 700-Series dongle for everything?

Now that I know it’s backwards compatible, no I guess not!

So a gen 7 stick will work with my alarm sensors as well as gen 5 plugs and switches then? If so, problem solved!

Yes, and even older 300-series (non-ZW+) devices.

Jobs a good un then. Thanks Rob :+1:

Now I just have to decide if I want to go the rack mount route for the servers or NUC/synology but that a different question.

Appreciate the help :grinning:
