Zwave and HA best way to use it

Hi,

I use HASS, on a pi3, which controls a bunch of stuff (Hue, 433 receiver, Broadlink, Xiaomi, Ankuoo, SOnoff)

and now I bought a z-wave USB stick from Aeotec … I hope I am not going to fry my family brain with all these signals …

I am obviously new to zwave, which is the best way to use it, also in conjunction with HASS?

Hi, I am new to Home Assistant, and have been focusing on a few Z-wave devices first. You can add, and to a degree configure, devices from within Home Assistant. However, open-zwave-control-panel allows more advanced configuration. I suggest you install the latter and see what works best for you. You should also link the xml files. I created a symlink from my .homeassistant directory to open-zwave-control-panel’s, but I think I will do it the other way in order to get the config included in version control.

I have also noticed that the names the entities get are not always very intuitive, so I would make sure to rename them, and also try to decouple the names from where you use the devices (e.g. in automation) so that you won’t have to do a lot of changes if you e.g. replace a device.

Sorry to ask but what Ankuoo devices you can control with HA? Im interested on the light switches but im not sure if they will work with HA.

I have Ankuoo power plug but is wifi not zwave
