ZWave devices still going offline

Hi All,

Since last March 2023 or so my ZWave sensors stop working with Home Assistant. They remain in HA but no longer work.

For example motion sensors (Zooz ZSE11 & ZSE 40) will flash the on-board led upon movement but will not register in HA dashboard or trigger an automation. Temp/Humidity/luma levels freeze at last transmitted values.

I have been through a number of contributed ideas, turning off Watchman, changing security to “insecure”, putting ZWave dongle on 3’ extension with no fix. I can bring them back by restarting the ZWave JS Add-on.

I am running HA (v 2024.6.3) on a Pi 3, using a NORTEK ZWave/Zigbee dongle.
ZWave JS 0.6.2 driver v12.11.2, server v. 1.36.0

I have looked on the forums for fixes but have not had any success.

Hello WWillig,

Zwave is a mesh system. You mention problems with end devices going offline. That is a good indication of a mesh problem. Do you have enough routing devices near the dead zones where things are not happy. Did you look at the device map to see how your mesh looks, good connections everywhere? I recently bought a couple of zwave plugs that will never be turned on, but are being used to bridge the signal to places there the end devices were struggling and another place where I am reaching Zwave across the 40ft driveway to the garage.

The sensors are about 3’ away from the dongle so I don’t think that is the problem.
