Zwave Gen migration

Hello I am using aeotec gen5 and would like to switch on a Gen5+.
I am using zwave js ui 9.3.1 and zwave js 12.2.3.
Do you know how to replace it and recover the current configuration ?
Thanks

I would contact Aeotec support if you need any help with that guide.

You’ll need a windows PC to do this.

The first step is to obtain the new stick, determine what firmware version is on it and then update the firmware to 1.2 using the instructions on the Aeotec web site,

The second step is to use the Aeotec backup/restore tool. Use it to back up the existing stick the restore to the new stick.

Next backup your HA system in case the new stick fails.

Once that completes plug the new stick back into the HA box, restarts zwavejs and see if your network it available in zwavejsui.

Hi thank you for this clear answer.

I have two additional questions

1 is there any risk to brick the current stick during the backup

2 can we use the retore option in the js ui

Thanks again
Manuel

There should not be. Just be very careful using the tool that you only press the backup button.

If your current stick is at FW 1.2 and the new stick is at FW 1.2, I believe you can use the backup and restore from zwavejsui. I have not done this. I would not try to interchange backup and restore using different tools.

No.the backup is non destructive.

Yes. That is the preferred method.

Just make sure your new stick is at least firmware 1.2 beforehand and if you’re installing an Aeotec Gen5+ be sure to turn off soft reset in JsUI before your final restart.
