Zwave-JS and replacing old 5 button Z-wave controllers

Looking for some general advice. Currently still have my z-wave network running on Homeseer but looking to get this over to Zwave JS in the near future. I already moved some devices over to a new z-wave network running on Zwave-JS but i’m stuck on my 5 button controllers (Cooper/Eaton RFWC5)

https://www.eaton.com/us/en-us/skuPage.RFWC5AW.html

These just don’t seem to work properly with zwave-js and home-assistant. In Homeseer i’m able to trigger events based on the buttons being on/off and also trigger the button leds to be on remotely. There are a few threads on here about this device but it doesn’t seem like anyone ever got it fully working.

Is there an equivalent newer z-wave switch that works fully with Zwave-JS and HA that I should consider? should I be looking to replace these with Zigbee? Matter? Thread? (As you can tell I haven’t kept up so much over the past few years).

Any first hand experience from someone who has a good, working multi-button controller?

Thank you

A good rule of thumb is to check the Z-Wave JS Config DB Browser. This shows all hardware supported by Z-Wave-JS UI. Your device is listed there: Z-Wave JS Config DB Browser (zwave-js.io)

I would suspect the configuration is dependent on group associations. If you have a working switch in HomeSeer I would compare the group associations with the device in Z-wave-JS UI.

do you have the Zen32? does it function correctly in HA without needing to do everything manually?

I have reviewed those links in the past and nobody ever got the switches fully working. The DB Browser shows the device in there but all it can do is activate aa scene - it cannot turn off a scene nor can you control the buttons/leds remotely.
