If I’m remembering correctly, a recent update to the Zwave JS app (formerly know as an addon) now includes the UI stuff. If you install the Zwave JS app on the new Mini PC, you should get the UI stuff. That assumes you are using HAOS on the miniPC. If you are doing something like a VM or your own container, you might have to do something different.
I am slowly getting to understand the steps. I will receive the Beeline mini pc and the Zigbee dongle tomorrow, but will do the installation once I understand the process.
What I understand for the time being is:
Install Ubuntu on a USB
Connect the mini PC to a screen as well as a keyboard
Run “Try Ubuntu” on the mini PC
Install HAOS
Then I may install Zwave JS on HA. Will this work (after I restore a HA backup from my Yellow Box to the mini PC) if I had Zwave JS UI previously ?
My guess is that I need to factory reset my Zigbee devices before adding these to the new Zigbee dongle on the mini PC. Should I use ZHA on the mini PC ?
It was mentioned that it would be useful to use the same IP address as I have now on the Yellow Box. Is that important ?
It’s important to understand that your Z-Wave network (i.e. all the details of your nodes and how they talk with each other) is stored in the Controller (i.e., the Dongle), not primarily in HA itself.
Migrating from the Z-Wave JS UI app to the Z-Wave JS app is definitely doable, but it’s not as simple as you would hope. You can’t just stop one and start the other. See the detailed steps here: Migrating from Z-Wave JS UI to the Z-Wave JS app
The Z-Wave integration is required to be installed before either of the apps. And never try to run both apps at the same time - only one or the other should be running at any point.
I would recommend transferring to the new machine first using the same Z-Wave JS UI app you currently have. Then, after you’re set up and stable on the new machine, you can convert to the Z-Wave JS app as a separate step.
