I just installed the hassbian version of home assistant on my raspberry pi 3. When I load zwave on home assistant the Aeotec stick shows up fine, but my aeotec recessed door sensor always shows up as “sleeping”. Can someone help me figure out how to fix this?
Because it’s battery powered. It’ll wake up every so often (at 11 hour intervals, plus most likely when it’s been triggered). The only way to “fix” that is to use a powered sensor 
What command are you using to wake it up?
AFAIK you don’t (can’t) use a command, you just manually wake it. The manual for the device will tell you how to.
Typically you can open/close (trigger) the device 3 times in relatively quick succession and the device will wake for a short while (1-2 minutes I believe). Everything is designed to conserve battery life.
