Zwave-stick range problems?

I’ve just finished migrating my Hass setup from Zwave-JS to Zwave-JS UI (HACS), one of the reason to make this switch is that somehow my Zwave network was dead and i was unable to heal it.

My Zwave setup is simple:

  • 1x Zwave stick ZOOS ZST10
  • 3x Yale Smartslocks
  • 1x Linear garage door opener.

Zwave JS UI shows it as a star configuration, where the stick is the center.

For the migration and reconnecting the devices, i moved my RPI with HA outside the normal server box; it was about 1ft higher than normal. Once completed, I moved the RPI back to normal position.

At this point, one of my Yale Zwave nodes went dead. Its 1 floor up, about 10ft away through drywood walls.
I am expecting range problems so thinking of changing transmit power.

ZWaveJS UI allows to play with the ZOOS’ controller settings:

  • Normal power level: current value = 0
  • Measured Output Power at 0 dbm : current value = 6.3

Any recommendations on next steps?

Try an active (wall-powered, not battery powered) device in between (the stick and your other devices) which can act as repeater.
Just my 2 cents

Something like https://www.amazon.com/Z-Wave-Hub-Range-Extender-Performance/dp/B081G97TLB?th=1 ?

Any wall-powered Z-Wave device will do, they automaticaly act as an repeater.

BTW, sorry for the late response…
