Zwave Unresponsive When Adding Schlage BE469

Hello Home Assistant Community,

I built out my first and new Home Assistant Raspberry PI 4, GoControl ZWave USB (HUSBZB-1) using the Home Assistant OS. I successfully reset and included all my Switches & Dimmers, added Ring Cameras & Doorbell, and was able to successfully bridge to Apple HomeKit. Success!

Today I tried to add my Schlage BE469 lock and unfortunately it will not Include (red checkmark) and the HA ZWave network becomes unresponsive afterwards; non of my switches turn on/off anymore. I have to Stop and (re)Start the ZWave network for all the devices to work again. I have tried both the ZWave and OpenZWave (Beta) integrations and have the same result.

From reading other forum posts I’m “guessing” it’s an issue with my Controller (Go Control HUSBZB-1), so speculatively ordered a Aeotec Z-Stick Series 5+ (note the plus).

Has anyone else experienced this type of issue, or is this a known bug with HA and/or the GoControl Controller?

Thanks in advance!

I have the husbzb1 and the be469 deadbolt working in my setup using the basic built-in zwave integration.

Do you have a network key defined since this device is a secure device? I don’t know why it would take down the rest of your system, but this is where I’d start.

I finally got the BE469 working, and it’s great. I thought I’d post the solution in-case anyone has as similar experience.

I started using Home Assistant as I was moving away from the Wink platform. All of my house ZWave switches (Leviton & GE) and the BE469 we previously associated/included in my Wink Hub. For all my light and outlet switches, I was able to simply factory reset them and include with my HA ZWave controller. This was not true for the BE469.

The BE469 does have a factory reset capability (see manual), but this DOES NOT reset the lock’s ZWave association. I had to re-connect by Wink Hub and exclude the lock (painful and took many attempts) before (successfully) including it on my HA ZWave controller.

Since then it has worked flawlessly and, even better (instance status updates & notification) than it ever did in my Wink.
