Hi,
Am new to HASS and just brought it up with a Zooz zwave controller and added First alert co/smoke sensor. I am trying to get water leakage sensor (not an expensive one) that users zwave natively without a hub. All I found are either expensive (80+ $cdn) or they have a hub like the Xiaomi Aqara or Govee wifi ones. Any recommendations for an easier to add ones?
Guess it depends on what you consider expensive but there’s a few options:
For example - HomeSeer HS-LS100+ ~US $27
That said, while more expensive, I’d prefer the Aeotec 6 one for a water boiler for example (because of the lasso going around the base of it) and use the homeseer model for washer/dishwasher.
That thing is expensive in Canada and is almost the same price as Aeotec. I am looking for a $30-40 cdn max.
I use zigbee (Conbee) and mostly Xiaomi sensors. Water is about $17 CDN from Aliexpress. Since I have about 20 motion, 3 temp/humidity, 3 button switches, water, etc the cost of the conbee is small per device. Conbee 2 is $54 CDN.
I have moved on now and am simply building my own devices with esp-01 and wemos for garage, furnance with multiple sensors per. ie. a furnance/ac controller with CO, methane, temperature, and water sensors all in one. Oh where will it end…
I am buying this usb stick for zigbee. Do you use Xiaomi hub for the zigbee sensors (Aqara?)? Do you have a link to the guide to install them?
I’m in Canada too and from time to time the Dome brand z-wave sensor goes on sale on Amazon. I bought mine a few years ago for the lowest price of 48
Just start putting all your wants into CCC and buy them when they drop
If you don’t mind paying shipping I’ve purchased quite a few things from aartech they have a tonne of z-wave https://www.aartech.ca/zwave-water-sensor-valve
Is there a special version of Aqara sensors for Canada, am asking because of the frequency
I use the Conbee 2 zigbee adapter in a raspberry pi for all my aqara sensors and switches. Also use the ikea repeaters with it. Simple to set up with integration included in the home assistant add-on store. Took all of about 5 minutes to set up. The install documentation is included in the documentation tab once you install the add-on.
zigbee does have several frequencies in use world wide but in general most use the 2.4Ghz frequencies. All the aqara sensors i have ordered from aliexpress work.
WSDCGQ11LM - temperature
RTCGQ11LM - PIR
FYI In case someone stumbles across this looking…
I have several of these now (in 2022) and after a few months of happy use am getting a few more to put in my AC drain pans as well. Works great with Z-wave JS.
