I recently migrated to ZwaveJS2MQTT, and still struggling a bit.
Question 1 - All of my Kwikset locks migrated with S0_Legacy security. Is that correct? Or should they be S2 security?
Question 2 - My Jasco in-wall switches migrated with No Security. Is that correct? They state that they support S2 security? Also when I pull up the network graph, my Jasco switches don’t connect to anything (only my Kwikset locks show lines connecting to the hub, not my Jasco switches). They appear to work fine, but shouldn’t they be using S2 security?
If you are migrating from Legacy Z-Wave, it doesn’t support S2 security, so none of your nodes would have been included that way. S2 security can only be enabled when a node is included. If your devices support S2 and you want it enabled, you will need to exclude and re-include them.
Not really. Yes its more secure. But secure from what? The target is the lock. This is not a WiFi network… Yes there is a theoretical path to the lock IF you can get a device included on the network… But imho my house isnt that interesting. The baddies are jusr going to smash a window. I dont include any of mine with security.
Only perimiter devices such as locks abd doors.
Those S0 devices though are worth doing the re-pairing if they support S2, because S2 is roughly 3x more efficient than S2 comparing similar tasks.
