The zwave equivalent doesn’t exist (as of yet). Everything I’ve found is a scene controller, I’m not after a scene controller. I don’t have any extra space in the wall to expand this to a double gang box, so space is limited.
I’m open to most open-source protocols (No Zigbee please). What hardware recommendations do you guys have?
I did stumble on these devices and they are an option. I’d have to open the box up and check the wiring. Knowing my other outlets, I don’t have much space. But I could replace the receptacle with a deep receptacle.
I have exactly the same situation. But I live in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where houses are made of concrete, so modifying the gang box or adding something behind is a big deal. On one case the wall is an outdoor wall, so definitively can’t place anything behind.
I have used UPB switches from Simply Automated for about 15 years already. But one of the double switches failed and another is causing trouble already, so I would really like to find a solution that doesn’t involve breaking down my concrete walls.
Are those two switches controlling 2 different lights, or something else?
I’m just wondering whether it is possible to put a dual nano switch (or 2 single channel switches) closer to the load, if the space behind the switch plate being limited??
What type of switch do you use ro activate it? Single gang, double momentary switches are not easy to find either. This seems to be an option, but it is expensive.
I guess that you will want a momentary switch to turn on/off a light. Otherwise the switch could become out of sync with the actual light state.
Well, decora switches don’t have a ON/OFF label but assuming that the device would toggle the state with any action to the switch, it would be a little confusing turning them ON to the left some days and to the right other days, I guess. I would work like a 3-way switch.
Yes, I just wanted to confirm that we were talking about the same device (Fibaro).
I was checking the Shelly 2.5 and there are options for all types of switches. I will start with normal switches to see how we adapt to them. Since all my devices are Wifi I prefer the Shelly option. But thanks anyway!
