2023.5.0 broke 12 different aqara Zigbee devices - still broken on 2023.5.3

They worked fine on 2023.4.6.

Upgraded to 2023.5.0, all broken.

I see 2023.5.1 is out now. Upgrading right now, here’s hoping.

Caveat emptor.

Update: 2023.5.1 did not fix anything.

Update2: Using ZHA with an HUSBZB-1 coordinator.

Update 3: Running HAOS generic x86 image on a NUC.

Updates 4 & 5: 2023.5.2 and 2023.5.3 still have not fixed the issue. Devices continue to go offline.

Read the release notes: You may be disappointed. YMMV

I did, before upgrading. There was no mention of Aqara or Zigbee in the breaking changes that I saw… ??

Yeah it doesn’t. I just checked too because i have a bunch of aqara devices and had not noticed any issues but was concerned by your post.

For what it’s worth you didn’t say much about what devices and what your setup is.

I run ZHA with a tubesZb ethernet coordinator. A mix of router devices and my aqara devices are door sensors and motion sensors, which seem fine.

Edited the original post, thank you.

It’s literally some of every type of device - buttons, motion sensors, contact sensors, water leak sensors, environment sensors.

What’s worse is that it’s only 12 that are broken - I have 41 total zigbee devices, and only those 12 are broken.

Tried re-pairing one and it came back.

Now to crawl around under all kinds of sinks and other assorted nonsense. Ugh. What a stupid problem to have. Oh well.

At least re-pairing seems to work, so far. If anyone else runs into this, try that first.

Just back with a final update that after re-pairing of all devices, they appear to be working properly. Not what I wanted to work on this evening, but at least they are fixed.

Night, all!

I’m using Z2M and a Sonoff stick and have not seen these issues you have. Regardless, I found HA very unresponsive/slow until I rebooted my Pi (I am running HA container in docker). Restarting HA several times was not enough. Worth a try?

I have the exact same issue with my HUSBZB-1 coordinator and 7 of my Aqara sensors. The HUSBZB-1 coordinator is working correctly with the other 23 zigbee devices (Aqara and Ikea). Hoping there will be a fix for this as I am also not looking forward to manually reconnect all 7 devices as some of them are in hard to reach places. They were all working fine on 2023.4.6 and failed shortly after updating to 2023.5.0 (and also not fixed with 2023.5.1 or after a couple of reboots).

Having the same issue here with 4 of my 12 Aqara water sensors. Even after repairing successfully, they go unavailable within a few hours. This seems to correspond with an update to Home Assistant OS 10 rather than 2023.5 in my case.

Also using HUSBZB-1.

Follow-up: This morning, 3 of the same 12 sensors are offline again.

For me, this definitely coincided with the upgrade to 2023.5.0 since I upgraded HAOS previously and didn’t have any issues.

Added those 3 back - AGAIN. We’ll see how long it lasts this time. What a PITA.

I have the exact same setup, ZHA with an HUSBZB-1 and 16 Aqara and Sengled devices. All of my Aqara devices died after the update, but the Sengled ones kept working fine.

I reverted to 2023.4.5 this morning but unfortunately it didn’t bring the Aqara devices back, I had to manually re-add all of them. I’m going to stick on 2023.4.5 for now…

Yeah, none of my sengled or sonoff devices fell off, only Aqara. Very frustrating.

Common things seem to be both the HA update and the HUSBZB-1

I don’t seem to be affected and am not using that hub

This is getting really old.

Even after upgrading to 5.3, I still have broken devices.

Did you ever identify a fix? Using a husbzb-1 and several aqara door sensors on 2023.5.2 that pair once successfully and then de-pair after around ~6 hours or so. Tried migrating my wifi and Zigbee channels away from each other, but no luck. Aqara devices seem to still drop… They were rock solid before.

I restored a backup using 2023.3.6 and everything seems to be back to normal. There are some other posts claiming zha issues with 2023.4.2, so I went back to 2023.3.6 to be safe.

I upgraded the Zigbee firmware on my HUSBZB-1 stick from 5.4.1.0 to 6.7.8 (which was an adventure on it’s own) and reconnected the missing Aqara sensors. I’ll keep monitoring them to see if they disappear again and report back here. For now everything seems to be OK again (running HA 2023.5.2).

Chiming in as well, 2023.5.0-2 with a husbzb-1 causes all of my aqara devices to drop after a couple of hours. Rolling back to 2023.4.6 and repairing is once again stable.
